Spring Conference

Spring Conference, also known as Spring Assembly, is an annual kind of homecoming, a spiritual family gathering.  We tell faith stories, laugh, pray, give encouragement, share struggles and get energized.

We also look for practical ways to do hands on ministries and bless the work of our host community.

Spring conference 2011 was held May 6-7 at Church for the Highlands in Shreveport. Rob Nash, Coordinator for Global Missions was featured guest.

Hear Faith Stories, Rob Nash and other conference speakers here.

Off the High Dive: From Deep Gladness to the World's Deep Hunger was the theme. We celebrated partnerships with faith based community ministries and our new church start, Church for the Highlands.

Participation was more than doubled at the conference this year.

Church for the Highlands, a budding, new congregation, is forming its identity around a call to bless the Highland community in Shreveport through partnerships with VOA, Community Renewal and others ministering to the Highland area. It is a great example of leveraging (like yeast in the dough) Kingdom work by seeking to enhance and bless the good work of community partners.

Celebrating God's grace through these partnerships are: Chuck Meehan, left, director of Volunteers of America of North Louisiana; Cody White, 2nd from left, layman at First Baptist Shreveport and board member of Grayson Foundation; Mack McCarter, 3rd from left, director of Community Renewal International; Rob Nash, far right, Coordinator of Global Missions for the Fellowship.

Dan GibbsChurch for the Highlands Ensemble
Dan Gibbs shared musical talents as did the Church for the Highlands Ensemble.

Simultaneous to the conference were these mission events:
Planting a garden at the VOA Veteran's Home
Sorting clothes for Dress for Success
Interacting with and supporting the Haven House girls
Throwing party for Friendship House and Lighthouse kids

A highlight again was the telling of faith stories on Saturday morning. Recordings of these are available here on this site.
